I haven't reported on Matt in a while so I thought I'd let you know what he's been up to. He's been getting ready for his next Kaizen event. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but one of his primary responsibilities is to save the company money through these events. Inevitably, the goal is to bring awareness to a problem, come up with a corrective action and implement the new plan which should save the company lots of money. The other goal is to create better business practices from these events as well.
I learned today that Matt's newest focus is gloves. There is a huge stack of disposable gloves that can be used by anyone in the plant. These aren't plastic gloves like you'd see at a doctor's office. These are regular gloves with grip hands so you can't burn yourself when near hot glass. Apparently, Matt's goal is to save the plant on their glove usage since many will take gloves, misplace them and grab some more.
My theory is that the plant workers are putting the gloves on the bottles as the pass by on the conveyor belt so they can do impressions of Lavern and Shirley. ;)
