Matt and I finally made it to the Outer Banks! This is the makeup trip from
what we missed due to our rabies adventure back in August. We are staying for
an extended weekend at a GREAT beach house. Since our friends know the
home-owner, we are able to split the rental fee and stay for a super
inexpensive rate!!!
The house is decked out with a beach theme - I'll show pictures later (once
I take some!) and you'll see the level of commitment to this theme. But it's
great because the homeowner has installed some great amenities. There is an
outdoor shower so you don't have to bring in sandy clothes into the house, a
horseshoe pit, foosball, movies, books, games...
Yesterday the 6 of us lazed around the house for the morning and early
afternoon. We then headed for the beach and whereas it was a bit cold, I was
able to hear/see the ocean and do a little bird-watching. We kept seeing random
sea stars wash to the shore, which fascinated us all because we couldn't figure
out if they were alive or dead. Either way, it was still neat to pick them up
and learn what they feel like.
We went to a great dinner that evening, and then 4 of us saw the movie,
Argo. Whereas the movie was good, it was incredibly suspenseful and I had a
hard time winding down afterward due to that! But it was worth it!
