We set up a booth at the Dash baseball game last night and it was a real "hit" with the kids. We had all sorts of interactive stuff the kids could demo. Their favorite was a powder that when added to water, turns into instant snow.
Our view of the field wasn't too shabby either! Although, it looks much further in the picture...
Three of us worked the booth last night. There was myself and Kelli (the one who "hired" me). Additionally, I met, for the first time, another volunteer named Stephanie.
Pictured above: Stephanie and Mr. Bones
Hopefully Steph and I will get to volunteer together on occasion. She's in the same situation as me - almost quite literally. We are the same age, she moved here with her Engineer husband for his job, and she's having trouble finding work because they too will only be in NC for a short period of time.
As for Mr. Bones - he was quite popular, too. When transporting him to and from the car, he was in a garment bag and his poor feet stuck out. You can imagine all the strange looks/comments we got when they saw two women carrying what looked to be a body bag and two skeletal feet hanging out! That was the first time in my life I felt safe walking in the dark to my car without worrying about safety! Who would mess with us, right!? J
