Chico’s Rocky Weekend

Hi this is Matt with this weekend’s blog post.  Over the weekend Kirsten was in a training class at Hanging Rock State Park called “Leave no Trace”.  The class focused on how to have fun in the outdoors while being environmentally responsible.  Since the park is only an hour from the house Chico and I decided to spend Sunday in the park while Kirsten was in her training.

Since we only had a few hours before Kirsten was out of her class we decided to tackle the main trail which lead to the main attraction, “The Hanging Rock” which is an outcropping of rocks located high above the Piedmont.  This trail was about 2 mile with a lot of it being up hill.  As you can see, we made it to the summit.  The view was fantastic and unlike many of the parks we’ve been to we were able to climb right up to the edge of the rocks.

Since Chico set the pace, we made it up and down the mountain in record time (for us that is).  With the extra time we decided to try another trail which took us to a couple of waterfalls.  Once we got there we cooled off in the pools below before we made the trek back up the hill to meet up with Kirsten.  As you can see from the photos, we had a great time.
