I took Chico to our local dog park and whereas it was quite enjoyable, it also reminded me of a parent taking their child to the playground for their first time.
At first I was cautious. I hadn't been to a dog park either. I didn't know the etiquette. I knew he was allowed off his leash, but as far as interacting with other dogs, I had no clue. Is it ok if he plays with other dogs or are we supposed to keep to ourselves?
So I couldn't help but channel a mom's first visit to the playground. Although one thing may be different. I'm sure at some point you mom readers out there may have worried about your child falling off a swing, but I hope you never worried if your child was smelling too many other children's butts! Sadly, that was a concern for me today...
But, I relaxed soon enough because all the dogs seemed to play well together and I was able to release Chico into the fun! And whereas some were more alpha than others, no one was aggressive. A good first experience!
