I've been to kids' bday parties before, but last week I went to my first big kid party. Sadly, to all my readers that my age this post may be a bit depressing. For those readers older than me, please try and keep your snickers to a minimum.
Did you know that My Little Pony is like THE thing for 10 and 11 year-olds right now? Depressing!!! My generation grew up with them and when I told the birthday girl I had the original ones, she said, "Oh you mean the old retro ones?" I'm in my 30s for crine out loud! How can my age be retro!?!
But the party was fun. The birthday girl is the daughter of my TW boss and I've been fortunate enough to bond with her daughter over the past year. It could be our mutual love our Harry Potter, or perhaps our obsession with cupcakes.
The party was at a local hotel with an awesome pool inside. I think the idea is a pretty good one. The hotel has an overnight party package that allows up to 5 kids to stay in a 2-room suite - one for the kids and the other for the adults. The package also gives the party unlimited access to the pool and lobby area for a party.
Now all I want to call them is, "My Retro Ponies."
None of the girls have a cell phone, but they do have iTouches. I think it's hilarious that before the candles were blown out, that the cool thing to do is take a picture of your own cake!
