Best Snow Day Ever!!!

Matt was told not to come in to work on Thursday due to the huge snow storm we got.  Enthralled with our bonus day-off together, and with a playground of powder, we decided to take full advantage of our snow day!

The first couple of photos are of Wednesday at around 4pm.  I love that you can't even tell where our front yard ends and our neighbor's begins.  I also said to Matt that I felt like I lived in a snow globe.  It was so pretty.

Thursday morning we woke up to a beautifully blanketed backyard...

So what did we do in the backyard?  We went snowboarding!

We have a slight hill so we thought we'd try it out since it's quite unlikely for us to manage to get out this season.  I think we made a fun little bunny slope for ourselves.

At one point I threw a snowball near Chico and he tried to retrieve it.  Thinking it was hilarious, I threw another snowball out further, and he tried to retrieve that one.  So we played fetch for a couple of minutes.  Amazingly enough, he actually brought the right snowball back each time.  It was just usually crushed by his teeth by the time he returned it.

We then decided to take the boards to the front yard and go down the driveway...or as we called it, the black diamond.  It actually turned out to be less steep than the backyard, but we had fun anyway!  The photos of that portion are on Matt's phone, so I'll have to post those later.

I told Matt that I wanted to see if Chico could finally let his inner-husky out by pulling me down the street.  After a few attempts in the backyard (video available on Matt's Facebook page, for those that want to see it) we trekked to the cul-de-sac and here's the results.

Success!  It was fantastic - so much fun!  Some of the neighbors even came out to watch.  But the real lesson here is that we finally have learned how to walk Chico.  Now if we'd only have snow around here year-round! ;-)

And finally we built a snowman.  Meet Walter.

You can't really tell, but I'm giving Walter bunny ears.

You may be asking, why Walter?  Well, back in Chico we once made a snowman in a freak snowstorm and it was near my grandpa's birthday.  So, we named that snowman after my grandpa.  The name stuck, so we've named all snowmen afterwards Walter.  I don't think I've ever mentioned that to you have I, Grandpa?  :-)

It was such an awesome snow day.  I didn't know it at the time, but we fulfilled Matt's Snow Day Bucket List, so it was a successful day.  We capped it off with the Winter Olympics, thus finishing the day with a snow theme, too!
