Part of my nature certification requires that I go to workshops that focus on nature. The park in which I work offers monthly gardening classes, and I attended this past class which was about gardening in the winter. I was surprised as to how many flowers grow in cold weather.
After we discussed flowers, we turned our attention to pruning and pot gardening. While we were learning about flowers, one of the speakers had been pruning a juniper and I was amazed how much he was pruning it to look like a bonsai tree. After he finished pruning the shrub, they put it in a pot, decorated it with rocks, moss, and some grass, and I was amazed at the transformation that occurred in less than 1 hour!
