We toured the famous Biltmore Estates, owned by the renowned Vanderbilt family. We weren't allowed to take photos inside the house, but I did my best getting photos of the exterior...
During the tour we were able to go out on the porch and see the view - as you can see, it's amazing!
Mom didn't want to leave and we had only been on the tour for 15 minutes!
After the house tour we went to the gardens and I went a little crazy with flower photos!
We then went to Antler Hill Village, the shopping area that also houses their winery. Mom decided to shop while Dad and I took advantage of the free tasting that was included in the admission.
Since it was "free," it was crazy busy! Look at the line!
But once we got to a station, we were able to relax and enjoy the wine tasting!
After our tour we headed back to downtown Asheville and enjoyed another great patio-seated dinner. We were sitting at the wrong angle for a group picture, so I took a picture of their famous biscuit instead. :)
We concluded our evening by going to a world-famous hotel called the Grove Park Inn. We had no idea existed until a local told us it was a must-see! I read about it's history on the website and it's has a fascinating story, along with quite a few famous guests.
Famous Guests:
During the summers of 1935 and ’36, author F. Scott Fitzgerald resided in our Room 441. He’s just one of the American luminaries to have stayed here, a list that includes Harry Houdini, Will Rogers, George Gershwin, Thomas Edison, Eleanor Roosevelt and Henry Ford. Not to mention presidents — William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Richard M. Nixon, George H. W. Bush, William J. Clinton and Barack H. Obama.

We relaxed in "The Great Hall" in front of a 14-foot wide fireplace. Aside from it's unique size, it's also unusual because inside the fireplace there's an elevator! It's hard to describe - just think of a fireplace with wide stone walls on either side (the chimneys) and the elevator is hidden inside off to the left.
