Matt's Mecca!

We went to a place where everything was just "wright" - The Wright Brother's Museum!

Whereas the Wright Brothers were from Dayton, Ohio, their first flight took place in Kitty Hawk, NC - right here at the outer banks! It's been a dream of Matt's to visit and he can finally scratch this one off his bucket list!

We had a great time learning all about them and their aircraft discoveries. They have an admirable story and incredible discoveries, even outside of aviation!

Up on the hill in the background is a monument for the Wright Bros.

This is a replica since the actual flyer is in the Smithsonian - which Matt is happy to say he's seen that, too!

These markers represent the four "first" flights the Wright Bros. accomplished in 1903.  If you look way into the distance, you can see the 4th marker which is the only one that actually counted since they needed to fly over three hundred feet for the world's "first flight" to count.  Their final flight that day went over 800 hundred feet!

This is the marker indicating the point of take off for the first flight.

While climbing the hill to the monument we saw a pretty rainbow!
