Meet Digger!

He's a Gopher Tortoise and is given that name due to his "digging" instincts. His species is know for digging burrows, to which they inhabit and protect themselves from predictors. These burrows are inhabited by other animals as well - either sharing it with the tortoise, or taking over abandoned burrows. I learned today that they can live up to 150 years!

I had a first in my lifetime today - I took a tortoise for a walk! And don't let them fool you - they are faster than you think! J

I've started volunteering at SciWorks twice a week since there are a lot of ongoing projects. I'm still helping with animal care and I've now been "promoted" to gardening. Aside from walking Digger today, I assisted in installing a drip system for the herb garden. Coincidentally, Matt wants to install a drip system in our garden and it was refreshing for me to say, "Matt, don't go to Lowes without me, I know what we need to purchase for the drip system." Even though he knows how to install one as well, we can all pretend he'll need my expert advice, right!? J

Matt's staying busy at work. He has a few Kaizen projects to finish this and next week and then he will have met his quantity quota for the year (10 projects)! He still needs to meet his financial goal, but I'm impressed with how much he's accomplished in only half a year! Thankfully, his Kaizen boss said the same thing!
